2023 Opening times:

Purbeck Mining Museum will be open during 2023, with the Narrow Gauge Railway running during Swanage Railway special event weekends.


Purbeck Mining Museum opening times are:
  • Tuesday 11:00 – 16:00
  • Wednesday 11:00 – 16:00
  • Thursday 11:00 – 16:00
  • Saturday 11:00 – 16:00
  • Sunday 11:00 – 16:00
Last entry is 15:30.  Please note that we are usually closed Mondays and Fridays.

Parking is available at the Dorset Council’s Purbeck Park ‘Pay & Display’ car park.

Toilets and baby changing facilities are located in the car park.

Refreshments are available at the kiosk by the Children’s Play area and on Norden Station platform.

We’re committed to making the Purbeck Mining Museum as accessible as we can for everyone. At present, access is not possible to some parts of the site for wheelchair users or pushchairs and buggies. We’ll always try to find a solution to ensure that this doesn’t impact on your enjoyment.

Dogs on a lead are welcome.

We’re next to the fabulous Swanage Railway, so why not make a day of it and enjoy a trip on a steam hauled train.

Arriving by bus

More bus 40 runs between Swanage and Poole.  Alight at Norden Farm.  Walk towards Norden roundabout, then turn left towards Norden Station.  Timetables are available on the More bus web site.

Until 30 August, the 2RN shuttle bus will also call at Purbeck Park.  More information on the Visit Dorset website.
