Purbeck Mining Museum

PMMM (Purbeck Mineral & Mining Museum)The Purbeck Mining Museum is dedicated to the history and heritage of Purbeck Ball Clay mining and it’s industrial narrow gauge railways.

2022 Opening times:

Purbeck Mining Museum will be open on set dates throughout 2022.

Please check our Facebook page for our regular updates and latest museum opening dates and running times for the narrow gauge demonstration railway.

The Industrial narrow gauge railway will next be running during the Swanage Railway ‘Roads to Rail’ event from 11:00 to 16:00 between Friday 24th June and Sunday 26th June 2022.

Please note:  The full underground mine is not accessible, but you will be able to view the underground tunnel – A one way system is in operation throughout the museum and there is plenty of fresh air and open spaces.

Entry is FREE. Please consider a donation of at least £2 for each adult visitor, this will help us to care for, explore and celebrate your heritage.
